Goats: babies, milk, and poop

March 23, 2010

Our turn for picking up raw cow and goat milk for our food co-op. The drive out to Molalla is gorgeous, and the animals are so sweet. This week there were two day old babies, as well as two sets of older triplets. Our farmer told us each Spring brings around 40 kids total! Before heading out with coolers full of milk, we also loaded up a truckload of aged manure to take home for our garden. The farmers were more than glad to get rid of just a tiny bit of what they have stockpiled. (Bennie thinks its funny that plants like poop!) Now that Spring is really here, everything is growing quickly. Unfortunately, that includes the blackberry brambles we have been scrambling to tame!
