Felted sweater dress

January 11, 2010

I have two sweaters undergoing a bit of renovation. One was felted on accident, and the other my mom thrifted for me in order to make some wool longies for Bennie. The goal is two dresses from the torsos, and two pairs of longies from the arms. So far, sweater dress #1 is done. Its a pink vesty number, with two pockets and two hearts. Its the first such project I’ve done, and was surprisingly easy. Cutting out felt and hand sewing appliques felt like a childhood craft project. Easy and fun.

The part I didn’t get a pic of was cutting it out – I traced one of her basic shift dresses. I cut off the sleeves to become longies. I left the sweater collar intact, and basically cut an a-line out of the torso.

She loves the hearts.

More felted goods to come!

That is so cute! I wish I had some boy ideas like this. Course, my boy would probably prefer the pink dress!
