a snowy day

December 31, 2009

She’s been waiting for this moment, as we’ve been reading wintertime books for over a month. She’s been swishing around the house in her snowsuit for weeks, getting mighty sweaty, anticipating the snow that finally arrived last night. She immediately wanted to make snow angels, and then, of course, build a snowman, ahem, snow mama and snow baby.

Vince, the Alaskan, protested that “It’s not good snow. We can’t play in that…its just wet, slushy stuff.”  Meanwhile I was already out the door, like a crazy Willamette Valley Oregonian, because schools close for this kind of snow down here! Muddy snow here I come!

Snow people, built by Mama, Daddy, Bennie, Jori-lann and the tractor.

And Jori-Lann (who just so happened to get himself lost last night and taken in by a neighbor) trying to eat the snowman eyes.  Tracking in his muddy paws, getting himself into trouble constantly; he’s the quintessential adolescent.

Too cute, the Bene in her snow suit making snow angesl. How funny the kitty is so interested in the snow man!

The Secret Life of a Snowflake describes the art and science of snowflakes, aimed at readers from 6 to 12.
