Happy Halloween 2009

November 6, 2009

ballerina 018This year we put a lot of thought into whether or not to go trick or treating. Were we ready for Benecia to be inducted into the quintessentially American rite of passage that involves asking neighbors for candy? Personally, passing out candy at the door has always appealed to me. Probably because I have never lived in a house that received any trick or treaters. At any rate, this year was no exception since we just moved to a quiet street, which, don’t get me wrong, is great every other day of the year. so we decided to take the plunge and head over to a friend’s neighborhood. What other day of the year do you get to go knocking on all your neighbor’s doors for fun AND dress up? She loved seeing all the other kids’ costumes as we walked around, including what two tween girls self-described as “Swedish meatballs”, though they didn’t look Swedish or meatball like.

B was, of course, a ballerina. She’s been talking about it for months. After 2 failed tutu attempts, I finally rigged something up at the last minute for her to wear out. Then the kitty discovered he liked tulle too. A lot. So this picture is actually from today. Tutu #4.  We dressed up again, (or rather, B put on her tutu and painted her face a whole bunch) and trick or treated daddy in the home office for crackers with honey.

Happy Belated Halloween!

Alaska grandparents are so happy for you. Everytime we saw a trick or treater about her age we thought of her. It was suprising that all of the little girls tried to get more candy than the boys:)
